George Orwell (born Eric Arthur Blair) 1903-1950

 

Time: 12:30pm -3pm

Location: Downtown Asheville NC

Either at Wall Street & Battery Park Avenue  map link

or at Southeast corner of North Lexington Avenue & West Walnut Avenue  map link

Passersby are invited to chose from writings by this British writer of essays and novels, including his great novel, "1984". The selection will then be read to them.

(The Reader may occasionally need to move to an alternative site because of weather or other onsite circumstances)

A link to how his book "1984" was in this week's news:  This Monday, Thai citizens were arrested in Bangkok for being seen reading Orwell's book in public as an act of protest to recent repressive government actions there.
